About
An euphoric explosion, by the company UME Théâtre – Émilie Faucheux, based on the novel by Léna Ghar published by Éditions Gallimard. After Croire aux fauves, which explored a woman's recovery from a bear's bite, Émilie Faucheux now turns to the scratches of childhood, within a household where violence goes unspoken. We follow the narrator, whose first name we never learn, from the age of 3 to the age of 27. She says « Je » and searches, with passion, anger, freedom and a great deal of self-mockery, for her own words to better express what she feels between her mother's screams and her father's silences. The family abuse she suffers is not visible, and even when she tries to send out a few signals, nobody seems to pay attention. As she grows up, she finds refuge in mathematics and its relentless logic… Except that life cannot be reduced to a simple equation; when the past resurfaces, one has no choice but to confront it.
